Try the hot pot, it's among the spiciest in all of China
Perhaps most well known for its giant panda breeding centre, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Chengdu is a large city in China's Southwest and the capital of Sichuan Province. A gateway into Tibet for some, the city itself is often the destination as visitors come to catch a glimpse of the giant pandas.
Local landmarks and attractions include the Nine Eye Bridge, Jinli Pedestrian Street, and in true Chinese fashion, the spicy local food!
Chengdu now enjoys great international as well as domestic connectivity via the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU), only 30-45 minutes via private vehicle or public underground rail.
As with many large cities of China, highway connectivity exists but the most convenient means of intercity transportation remains high speed rail. Chengdu is connected with Chongqing in 90-120 minutes, while other overland routes will be upgraded during the coming decade, bringing journey times down and comfort up.
