Do guests need to hold any sort of qualification to participate in the games?
I don't think so other than actually knowing how to play . I suspect that theses are not games at which newbies or those just learning are heartily welcomed. I have not played myself for years yet we had a great conversation with a couple from Australia who played often. I believe that they could get rated in tournaments and play together with some pretty serious competitors. Or just bid away for their own personal enjoyment . Games were scheduled frequently over the week.
@Aija Fogels-Wood any thematic shore excursions or was the card playing reserved for time on board and at sea?
I didn't notice any Bridge related shore excursions on our Mediterranean voyage. I don't believe this was a spotlighted cruise. On this particular cruise they had many leisure players. They were always looking for a 4TH . I believe that on the spotlighted cruises they have a Bridge master who holds rated tournaments. People, can then increase their rating so that they can compete at a higher level, enjoy their on board time while at sea .
That's quite interesting, being able to enhance your off-ship rating while on holiday!
I just had dinner with avid Bridge players and they said that enhancing their ranking is really important.
Guess I've got to learn how to play now haha
