Celebrating their 30th Anniversary in 2020 has been a challenge for Rocky Mountaineer, but they've pulled out all the stops to release an incredible new route starting August 2021, Rockies to the Red Rocks!
Traveling between Denver, Colorado and Moab, Utah, it's the first all-US itinerary for the world famous train line and one which really brings out the best in a colorful, scenic part of the country.
If you're not familiar with the train journeys, think full service, scenic rail journeys by day featuring a hosted experience including dining & beverages; the premium cars showcase the wilderness with panoramic, glass-topped carriages and adaptive seating.
Unlike other train journeys in North America, you won't be squeezing into a sleeper car by night but instead pulling into stops carefully selected to highlight the itinerary and your luggage will be transported to the carefully selected accommodation to match.
Wow wow wow! Those red rocks. Very exciting that there is a US route. Are babies welcome ?
I don't believe there's an actual age restriction, but they do recommend children be around 10 years of age or older to make the most of the experience.
Realistically that might be a nice way of also saying, "so they don't disturb the other passengers" haha
The carriages and seating are set for ultimate comfort, the journey time between stops can be as much as 9-hours.
The itineraries are cruise-like but the train itself is built to focus the rider's attention on the scenery and exploring the stories of the mountains through an engaging host - that means no casino, no play-room with children's activities, etc.
All seats being fair, there's no children's fare either.
Might be a few years before we take our little one!
This is awesome! I didn't realize there was a US trip! Now I want to do both of the Rocky Mountaineer trips!
It does look awesome, doesn't it? They seem to have been busy planning despite the downtime this last year.
