What does Black Friday mean to you? For us, it's almost an extension of Thanksgiving this year, we're celebrating our 3rd anniversary of business today!!! We couldn't have done it without you. If you're watching this, you're part of the reason we're here to celebrate in the first place. Thank you so much for sharing your time and attention, thank you for trusting us to help you make your travel dreams come true!
Recently, I've had opportunity to catch up with a number of great friends I made during my time in the army. This past weekend was also the first time I've attended a Remembrance Parade in the UK since leaving the Forces - the last I enjoyed during my service was technically not even in the UK but local to my final posting in Hameln, Germany. The sorts of reflections which arise around even a small ceremony allow me plenty to think about during the days both before and after the event itself. In Canada, as in the UK, today might be celebrated as Remembrance Day, or more pointedly, Armistice Day, while our friends in the US are enjoying their own version and paying their respects to those who've delivered the ultimate sacrifice with Veterans' Day. Please feel free to share what the day means to you or to your family. I also invite you to join me in a moment of quiet reflection at 11:00 AM.
I'm wedged between two great events in the industry calendar this weekend. Following a quick stop in London for World Travel Market's 40th anniversary event, I'll be headed to Miami and Fort Lauderdale next week for CruiseWorld 2019 where I'm attending as a VIP guest of their STAR Program! Industry events are typically a great time spent learning about the latest and upcoming highlights, but also a unique opportunity to collaborate with colleagues I might not always have the chance to see in person. They're also insanely fun. During World Travel Market I was able to track down (or she me) my long time friend Mel of Mel B Travel and share a bit of time talking travel in a rather more formal setting than we've enjoyed in past. While we've been catching each other up on destinations and culture for years, it's more often at the pub or during a meal out with friends. Here's her excellent blog: www.melbtravel.com All good things must come to an end, once the day was out in London's East End I scarpered off to meet up with a friend I've not seen since our days in the army together... Maybe 10 years had passed, I don't think we've seen one another since I posted out of Germany for the first time in 2010, but it always feels like an only yesterday moment when the Squadron was such a huge part of our lives. Sam's been growing his talent as a photographer and employs some unique skills he's gathered from time in the armed forces to capture some truly amazing landscapes and scenery. He runs his work out of Stonestreet Photography , and while he's only taken his works from personal fulfillment to professional status in the past year or so, he's already won himself a Highly Commended result at the 2019 British Wildlife Photography Awards. It's always difficult for we veterans to share our achievements, so I hope he doesn't mind me giving him a little plug and some encouragement to keep up with the creative efforts!
