Sounds like a very nice way to start an evening of dining to me, how about you? Is art a special interest in your life? It is quite something to enter the foyer of the Prime 7 restaurant on board the Regent Seven Seas Explorer and be greeted by a Picasso.
A Picasso ! Even someone who doesn't like or care about modern art must have heard the name Picasso at some point. Isn't he just one of those iconic artists that somehow everyone is aware of? How often do you get to see a real Picasso up close and personal not in a gallery? Well, you can on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer. Currently, the Explorer is Regent's newest and most luxurious ship. It is very simple to see this piece of art. You just walk into the foyer of the Prime 7 restaurant and there it is on the wall . What an amazing feeling it was just to see it. A fairly monochromatic sketch. It is of a bull. At first glance it looks rather simplistic, not the work of a great artist. But, with a closer look, you see the lines and style. A nice piece, for sure. The signature jumps out at you and your chin drops. It's a PIcasso!
Regent has other important pieces on the walls of the Explorer including another Picasso up by the entrance to the suite on the 14th floor. Take a look if you are up there , No other cruise line has such important pieces on their walls. Simply, by being in the presence of these works of art while waiting for your name to be called by the Maitre d'hotel is one of the hundreds of reasons why Regent is often voted as being the most luxurious Cruise line. It makes that experience simply one notch better than the rest. Artwork, fine dining, sumptuous accommodations are all part of the whole Regent experience.
I took this photo trying to get the signature a little more clearly. A difficult task with an Iphone. You should see if for yourself. Then go in and have a great dinner. Order the Lobster, if you are craving a real hardshell Lobster , fully dressed for you at your table. If you would like you can go back for seconds! Specialty items like Lobster are never an extra charge for you as they may be on other cruise lines.
This is the same piece from a distance . In it you can see Picasso's sense of humour in his line . It's whimsical in places and there is warmth in the eyes of the Bull. Perhaps it is his Spanish roots which endear him to the Bull.
Another piece in the same Foyer. I couldn't read the signature properly, but I enjoyed the life and spirit in this crowd scene. Again a Bull.
February 2020 will bring the addition of the Splendor to Regents line of Ocean ships. It would be hard to surpass the Explorer in details. Time will tell.
