Bristol is the largest city of England's West Country and a once-vital maritime region of prosperity. At first glance of the map, Bristol appears to be a convenient gateway to the West or into Wales from London, or as a stepping stone into The Cotswolds.
We're a glass half-full kind of business, but there are really very few reasons to recommend a visit to Bristol for international visitors unless you're exploring a personal family history or attending an event. Try Bath or any of the small towns within a stone's throw.
Planning your trip
Break up your day and your visit to M Shed with lunch at the neighboring container cafes & restaurants, Cargo.
When you should go
Bristol is most appealing during the late spring and summer months, when you'll have the best chance of blue skies and a stroll at the water's edge.
This is an indoor activity, you'll be able to enjoy your visit no matter the weather.
What else you might need
Several floors of the museum are open to the public and do not require any sort of admission, while special exhibits will require the purchase of an entry ticket.
