Also known as the Holy Rosary Church, this stone building was erected by the French in the early 1900s. It's an interesting landmark, a bit of European architecture in the hilly town of Sapa in northern Vietnam. The building was built facing east-west to welcome the sun while today the space directly front of the church is a public square and which gets a bit lively during busy periods and weekends.

You might appreciate the juxtaposition of styles, the church is simple yet distinctly European. You might also enjoy the lively scene which rises in the public areas around the building.

Planning your trip

You can explore the church's exterior at your leisure, be aware that the building is still used as an active place of worship and that you might be respectful of those local people using it as such.

When you should go

The church is especially busy during weekends, not only local church goers but also from a steady delivery of Chinese tourists.
