Pride of America
Norwegian Cruise Line
As the only commercial cruise ship registered to the US, the Pride of America is able to provide superior itineraries for exploring the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Year-round, 7-night cruises from Honolulu featuring an overnight stay in both Maui and Kauai! Norwegian has ensured there are a number of local Hawaiian people as part of the crew to act as ambassadors of culture and to help visitors better understand the Aloha spirit.
With more than 100 hours in port, it's funny that guests often describe their days on ship viewing the Napali Coast as among the highlights. Imagine yourself relaxing on your balcony with a coffee, enjoying the lush green views!
Planning your cruise
Do you have a specific experience in mind? If you're looking forward to enjoying something yourself, chances are that others will be, too! The best way to get the cruise you really want is to book early.
Norwegian's dress is relatively casual and a bit more family friendly in some respects. Children under 12 may wear dress shorts in dining areas, for example. Likewise, they recommend appropriate clothing for youngsters who may be a little more sensitive to air conditioning in some public spaces of the vessel. In general, some items are required at all times, such as footwear and a top. Swim wear is not welcome outside of the buffet or outdoor restaurant. Expect casual dress for much of the rest of the itinerary, but note that tank tops for men, alongside any flip-flops, baseball caps, visors, overly faded or ripped/torn jeans or those worn below the hips are not allowed in any main or specialty dining. Formal dining and certain specialty restaurants may call for something a little more elegant, with country club casual acceptable but only closed toe shoes for men. Make sure you ask about themed nights for your specific sailing, such as the White Hot Party!
Shipboard gratuities may be adjusted while enjoying a sailing, but represent the value delivered by your service staff during the itinerary. Norwegian now features a fleet-wide rate which varies depending on cabin category. For The Haven, Suites, and Concierge categories, a daily rate of US$18.50 per person per day applies. For Mini-Suites cabin categories and below, a rate of US$15.50 per person per day applies. Rates are applied to all passengers aged 3 and older. Note that pre-paid gratuities, although representing an added convenience, are subject to Hawaii's GET tax. This can mean an additional cost to well-organized passengers.
