I was wandering the streets of London recently, gathering up some resources and recommendations for Harry Potter enthusiasts. Seeking out filming locations and even some supposedly inspiring places for JK Rowling's writing when I happened upon a true hidden gem, The Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great
It was complete blind luck I encountered the building, the beautiful timberframe gates outside Smithfield Market caught my eye - turned out to be the oldest priory of London!
Having enjoyed the sights of the Faena Hotel in Miami and the gilded sculptures of mythical creatures, it was near-instant recognition when I spotted another Damien Hirst piece on display within the church.
If you didn't know the church was there, you really could just walk on by and miss out on a nearly 900 year old delight.
Better still, there's a wonderfully detailed piece by a modern if somewhat controversial artist!
