There are a lot of preconceptions about Scotland, like many vacation spots it's nice to blow some of those out of the water and to be truly surprised when you get there!
Off the back of a cruise in August of 2019, Holly and I stopped for a break in St Andrews to attend the most amazing wedding of some close friends and of course had to explore the tourist highlights of the town. The only thing I regret not being able to find on the day, but later finding out we were painfully only steps away, was the sculpture of Hamish McHamish.
We of course walked the Old Course and stopped at Swilken Bridge, I was surprised that the course is so open to the public and a thoroughfare exists right across the fairway here.
I was also truly surprised how amazing the beach is, hidden by the golf course!
