My guess is that there's just a regular maintenance schedule which periodically sees regions of London's streets and footpaths getting a touch-up or fresh coat of paint.
However, it just feels like good news right now to hear that the Abbey Road zebra crossing featured on the cover of the Beatles album of the same name got a lick of new paint this week!
