Spread over Upper Matecumbe Key, the village of Islamorada holds another title as the sport-fishing capital of the world. But if you're not into fishing or even seafood, you'll still enjoy some of the local attractions during a stay nearby or as part of your trip through the Florida Keys.

Islamorada is a popular stop on the way to or from Key West, but if you're looking to stay locally elsewhere in the region, Islamorada has a variety of resort-like properties and the population of regular residents can make for a convenient stay.

Planning your trip

A somewhat unconventional stop for a yacht charter, but definitely achievable. Get the best experience by prioritizing your trip to one of either fishing or lounging, not both.

When you should go

As with many of the various keys, the most popular time of year runs December through March. Expect a few crowds during the summer months as well, particularly around weekends.
