Beyond quaint, the Parade Gardens in Bath provide an excellent opportunity to escape some of the crowds if you find yourself in the city during a busy time of year. The park is officially Grade II listed, a small £2 entry charge for adults helps keep the crowds down even during the most beautiful of summer days.

No dogs or ball games permitted, the small park area is well presented and somewhat exclusive. You'll enjoy an ice cream or coffee and some shade here during warmer summer days or simply enjoy the park's gardens and view of the Avon otherwise.

Planning your trip

There are occasionally live performances by small bands and orchestral sets in the park's central colonnade, extra points if you can snag one of the few outdoor loungers available in the park!

When you should go

The Parade Gardens are open throughout the year, although busier during the summer months and on sunny days.

What else you might need

There is a small fee of about £2 for non-residents, payable in cash at the time of entry. It might seem a laughable amount, but it really does keep the crowds away!
