One of the biggest challenges which comes from planning a vacation to the Bahamas often comes down to the variety of activities and beach destinations to explore.
There are hundreds of islands, more than 700 in fact! You could spend a few days or longer just relaxing in one spot or spread your wings a little and fly (or cruise) a handful of islands to help decide which ones might be a personal favourite, then come back for a longer, more in depth stay in future!
Nassau and Paradise Island make for a pretty good place to start any adventure, and features heavily among cruise itineraries of the Caribbean, with plenty of options departing Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
The island is accessible, features plenty of iconic beaches, and has large, dedicated resort areas at both Paradise Island's Atlantis and Cable Beach's Baha Mar complex.
There are so many islands to explore, so unless you on a cruise and in Nassau for a day, you really need go back several times to different islands.
We had such a great day in Nassau when we stopped on our cruise. A bit of a stroll to see the sights before it got too hot, then off to the beach - we opted for Cable Beach and had a look at the Baha Mar's complex, wow is it beautiful.
Then stopped for some BBQ on the beach around Junkanoo, but forgot to pick up a rum cake...
Definitely a great day but completely agree that a repeat visit is on the cards for future. @Holly is obsessed with the idea of swimming with the pigs on Exuma, I know there's another tour offering a similar experience from Nassau these days but I'm a bit of a purist haha.
Really, we decided against jumping on another boat tour straight from our cruise ship. Will be another visit and some more time around Exuma, going to have to see the nurse sharks too, you know?
Sorry but swimming with pigs is not high on my bucket list @Holly and @Shy Let me know how that goes ha
No, I'm with you @Gene. Doesn't really appear on mine. I'll however admit that clients and friends who've tried it have a smile on their faces when they talk about it.
Obsessed is the right word @Shy, have wanted to go to Exuma for years now to swim with the pigs and nurse sharks (If i dare). Very much looking forward to doing this with you and now our little one. @Gene will defiantly let you know how it goes...you can't say it doesn't look like a little fun. haha
I guess we're going to The Bahamas next year? @Holly can imagine babies + beach + swimming pigs = quite a sweet looking postcard!
Don't get me carried away!!! I say YES YES YES.
It's under an hour to fly there from Miami @Holly ! I"m sure you'll want to share the baby with your friends there first on a layover hint hint!
@Gene Jochen Most defiantly ☺️
Going to need to get him a tiny passport as quickly as possible, that much is true.
