Better known for his works 1984 and Animal Farm, George Orwell was actually the pen name of author Eric Arthur Blair. The story has it that Blair originally sought to be buried in a graveyard of England, but was enticed to sleepy Sutton Courtenay at the suggestion of a good friend, David Astor.
Absolutely a place to visit for literary enthusiasts, those most interested may even consider it a pilgrimage. The countryside in Oxfordshire does not dissapoint.
Planning your trip
At present we're not aware of any official tour which includes this interesting landmark. It is not an easy journey without some sort of transportation.
When you should go
It would be most respectful to visit during the same hours you'd plan to visit any church or place of worship & respect for those now laid to rest.
What else you might need
The church's graveyard does not feature any sort of entry fee or admission, just be mindful to respect the local community when parking your vehicle or enjoying the larger church grounds.
