Despite being widely regarded as the birthplace of democracy, many aspects of Greece's rich history belongs to the warrior's ilk. Alexander the Great was thrust to the throne by the age of 20, but would go on to become one of the most formidable strategists of his or any era. In the 10 years to follow, he would remain undefeated in battle and had conquered among the largest empires of the ancient world.
